A Provincial and Territorial Breakdown for 2024 Hunting Regulations Guide Canada:

For hunters planning to head out into the wilderness this year, it’s essential to understand the specific regulations for the province or territory you’ll be hunting in. Laws vary significantly, and staying informed is crucial for both ethical hunting and avoiding legal issues. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know for each region in 2024:

Alberta Regulations Guide

You need permission from landowners to hunt on private land in Alberta. Moreover, certain areas, like provincial grazing reserves, have restrictions. For details, click here. The 2024 Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations outlines key details, including seasons, rules, and required permits. The draw application period for 2024 ran from May 28 to June 20. For more information, click here.

British Columbia and Saskatchewan Regulations Guide

In British Columbia, the 2024-2026 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis offers a comprehensive overview. Changes to moose and caribou regulations have been made in certain regions. The fall limited entry hunting draw application deadline was June 13, 2024. For further details, click here.

Meanwhile, in Saskatchewan, the 2024 Hunters Guide summarizes seasons, bag limits, and licensing information. Additionally, participation in the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) surveillance program is crucial for deer hunters. The big game draw supplement outlines seasons and quotas. For more details, click here.

Manitoba and Ontario Regulations Guide

The 2024 Manitoba Hunting Guide provides a summary of rules and regulations. The controlled deer draw was open for entry from July 1 to July 31, 2024. Moreover, hunters must be at least 12 years old, and those born after 1971 need a firearm safety/hunter education certificate. For more information, click here.

Ontario’s 2024 Hunting Regulations Summary outlines major regulations and licensing information. Notably, female deer hunting is prohibited in certain zones. The fall wild turkey season spans different periods, including bows only from October 1–31 and shotguns/bows from October 15–27. For more details, click here.

Quebec and Nova Scotia Regulations

Quebec’s 2024 Hunting Regulations Summary provides a concise summary of major regulations. Moose hunting is permitted in 2024 and 2025. Moreover, as the end of summer marks the return of hunting, most trails in wildlife reserves, Zecs, and neighboring clubs close for this popular hunting season. For more information, click here.

In Nova Scotia, the 2024 Hunting and Trapping Guide summarizes the regulations. Sunday hunting is now permitted, but not all permit holders will hunt on this traditional rest day. Additionally, the duck season has been extended by 15 days, providing extra opportunities for duck hunters. For further details, click here.

New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Regulations

The 2024 Hunting and Trapping Guide in New Brunswick provides a summary of major regulations. The general open season for deer hunting excludes Sundays unless otherwise stated. The department lifted the ban on Sunday hunting for the first two Sundays of the general deer hunting season on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8. For more information, click here.
